MISSION DRIVEN LEADERS

Imagine a movie director showing up to a film set. They’ve
collected financing and equipment, and they’ve hired top talent. Now
imagine that director calling action on the scene without giving the actors a
script. The actors have no idea what their lines are, they have no idea
what their motivation is, and they have no clue what they are supposed to
be doing or why it even matters. It’s a recipe for disaster. Here’s the
problem. Most companies are doing the exact same thing. They’re inviting
people onto their teams without ever telling them what the story is about,
what their role is in that story, or why the story matters. If a company’s
mission is vague or illusive, they are asking their employees to show up
on set without a story. Until you show your team where you’re headed and
why it matters, you will not succeed. Companies that have a clear mission
have more than just words, they have direction.
